Purpose & Direction: Go!

Good morning!

As I have accumulated the messages I've written over the years into categories, one of the biggest is "Purpose and Direction." Here we go with another one! haha

This morning I was trying to read in Jeremiah but it wasn't sticking and I kept re-reading the same thing over and over again. I said, "Holy Spirit, help my mind to focus so that I actually think on what I'm reading!" Well, I got the clue that I needed to go to Acts. So I did and amazingly, two topics that have been heavy on my heart were addressed!

One of those two is the knowing of purpose and direction. The part that I landed on was from Acts 8. Philip had an angel appear to him and told him to "go" and he was only told the road to travel on but nothing more. So he went. Aha! Simple, huh? Obviously not for me because I've heard this same thing before, many times.....with Abraham and a bunch of other people in the Bible!

So he started out, and on his way..... (Acts 8:27) he met the reason that God sent him: an important official was on that road and Philip continued to get step-by-step instructions. "The Spirit told Philip, 'Go to that chariot and stay near it.' Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet."

Piece by piece he was told what to do and he did it. And, he ran to do it! I love that! That is passion and trust. I pray that I will be bold enough to run when God tells me to run even when I'm not sure what's going to happen next!

The official ended up getting saved and then Philip was suddenly taken away and reappeared in another city where he continued to travel and tell people the Good News! Wow. Even in this, we see that God takes time and do what He wants with it! Sometimes I think I don't have the time or resources but leave it to God to just zap someone into the next place to continue on in the purpose He gave!

We don't need to worry that we don't have what it takes, the time, the resources or whatever seems to hold us back. God can multiply things that in human ways are not possible. He simply tells us to go and be very ready to run when He says to run and do what He says!
