He cares about your details

Good Morning!

I’ve gotten into the habit of looking for God in everything. I used to live so much more obliviously, I guess. I just kind of thought well, “here we go again” about any manner of troubles and then felt I just needed to buck up and get through it.

Now, it seems that I automatically think “I wonder what God will do to handle this?”

I guess all these mornings of time in His Word and prayer have retrained my brain. He uses different things to grow us and teach us, but I think one of the absolute best benefits is seeing Him in action in all the details.

Some of my details of the past few days I just have to share with you. Another “God do it” set of circumstances!

Our lighting in our house has been flickering a lot. We had had our electrician friend from church come out in the past and fixed some issues and said that if it continues to let him know. About the same time, our dishwasher left a pool of water on our wood floor one day. Thankfully, I saw it and cleaned it up immediately and then decided that we wouldn’t be using it until we knew the problem. It all was happening as I was headed into a busy work week and so I had to put it on hold until after I got through those long days.

The day after I got through the busy work days, I was out walking in the morning praying and said “God, you know the issues with the electrical and dishwasher. I am praying that they get handled without a huge expense but even if it is expensive, I know you will provide.”

Later that morning, as I sat in Bible study at my home with my mom and friend, our electrician returned to check things out. He ended up saying he wasn’t going to charge me despite spending over an hour at my house. I was blown away and tried to force him to take money but he resisted.

As we neared the end of our Bible study, I saw that our plumber friend from church was calling on my cell phone and I felt the nudge to answer it even though I usually wouldn’t do that during Bible study. After hanging up with him, my mom said that she and my Handy Andy brother had already checked the dishwasher and it wasn’t a plumbing issue but that the dishwasher needed to be replaced. My friend who is sitting there says “we have an extra dishwasher.” Excuse me, what?? They did a remodel at their home and ended up with a free dishwasher and didn’t need their fairly new one they had bought previously.

The added bonus was that my Handy Andy brother happened to still be in town from Colorado for my dad’s surgery and had only one day to help install it. We had some issues with trying to get that installed but the timing could not have been more perfect. The only day he had free to do it was on my work day at the military base but they canceled me coming in and so there I was with a free day and every single element of this added up.

Where I used to be anxious, I can now recall quickly why this set of verses matter so much:

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ... Matthew 6:25-34

He cares about our details. He cares about YOUR details. He will be faithful to provide. It might not look the way you expected and it might be through the added bonus of growing your faith in the meantime, but He cares and He will provide. Count on Him and look for Him in your details.
