Take your medicine....or not!

I got this in my inbox today:

Happy Monday. Day 19. I am down 12 lbs. Even cooler, I am down 22 since I decided I needed to do something. Getting out of bed is one easy motion now. Thank you"

That right there is why I love what I do!

I've learned a few things in my life so far. Practicing medicine for 19 years has taught me that some things in life and health are unavoidable and a lot of things can be prevented. Sometimes we feel that we've "tried" so many times that we just can't imagine that "trying" again to get healthy will work this time.

I just now finished a devotion on Jonah and the question Priscilla Shirer asked is "Do you struggle with feeling that you have wasted too much time to have another opportunity with God? If so, how does this affect your current actions?" My own experience with struggling to eat to feel good and have energy went on for over 25 years. I finally fully gave it to God and said WHATEVER You direct me to do, I will do it. Even if it doesn't make sense, even if it feels icky to me! I hadn't eaten red meat in 25 years, I ate ultra-low-fat, trying to figure out what would make me feel better. When God got involved and I called out to Him DAILY, I started to see changes. I tend to be the type (like a lot of us!) that just wants to know what to do and then go off running and do it. I found out that it is a daily need for strength. We were MADE to rely on God for all areas of our lives and not just pull out enough of our own willpower so we can pat ourselves on the back about how "good" we've been!

One of the most beautiful things God has done through my long struggle has been to share this with others! Even though I'm a PA, my passion is to get people to NOT need medicine or at least the minimum necessary.

Through the power of God for strength and sound eating plan that feeds our bodies with the foods He made, the way He made them and exercise that builds up our strength, we all can abound in the fullness of this life God gave us!

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. -- John 10:10

May you have a blessed, power-filled day and life!

Take your medicine if you need it, but let's work toward less of that, and more of health!

Love

jennie
