Persevere & Get the Promise

Good morning!

I love talking to people and finding out what is going on inside their thoughts. My intrigue is always how we think and how that makes us act.

Spiritual warfare is always going on. It is guaranteed in the Bible. There may be times that it is more obvious. But, what I've found is that the battle is hottest in our minds.

For example, last week I was feeling very stuck in my writing. I've been working on a health program that will launch in the New Year but I was feeling very frustrated and even confused. As I considered the battle of the mind, I realized that I needed to pray ever more fervently.

My temptation was to zone out and watch movies but I could tell that God was leading me in a direction that would actually help and not delay what I needed. I picked up one of the books that my friend Angie loaned to me and wouldn't you know I ended up in a chapter all about self-discipline.

The author reminded me of all the stuff I know but needed to hear in that weak time. You have to persist. You have to press in. You have to develop character. Delaying what is hard won't make it go away. Sometimes when the wind is blowing directly at you, you have to bow your head and just push harder to move forward, but you must move forward.

For whatever you feel is like a strong wind against you, remember that the battle is always hottest in our minds. Press in harder with God and prayer and His Word. Pretty soon the wind will be at your back and carrying you forward and you will have developed some muscle you didn't have before!

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36
