Spirit in Us
In the Old Testament, God was outside His people showing signs and miracles. In the New Testament, Jesus was with His people. We now have the Holy Spirit in us, His people.
I’ve wondered why there were so many visible huge miracles in the Bible but at times it seems like we have to hunt for them. I think we would all love to hear the obvious voice of God or Jesus. Sometimes it seems like that would make life easier, right?
But, even in the Bible, hearing His voice and witnessing His miracles wasn’t enough for those who were there. They still could, and often did, choose to harden their hearts and make idols or choose to stick with their “things” rather than follow Jesus.
God knew the perfect plan and that involves putting Himself inside of us to carry out His purpose.
We still have a choice. We can harden our hearts and make idols out of dumb stuff or we can listen, obey and trust.
“But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.”
John 16:7 NIV
Too much time is wasted (at least for me) in areas that I don’t think the Advocate is advocating for! Doubts, discouragement, fear, worry.... our Advocate surely tells us things that only convict us to move in healthy directions!
I pray that we get more aware of His voice and choose His way of displaying His glory through us!
