Get Fired Up! It's time
One of the things that I had a hard time with in the past was making time for God.I’ve talked about that before but in my mind I was doing ok going to church on Sunday and the occasional prayer.
I realized that I wasn’t treating Him as necessary.I heard Joyce Meyer talk once about her uncle who had to charge his pacemaker. She wanted to take him out to dinner but her aunt replied back that he must charge his pacemaker.Joyce said he could just do that some other time. Her aunt replied, astounded, that he would die if he waited. That wasn’t an option. The same could be said for dialysis. When you know that you must get your treatment in order to live, you don’t let anything get in the way.
Do we treat our relationship with God that way?We most certainly don’t.We think someday we’ll be motivated, have more time, be inspired or come up with some plan that will make time for Him.It doesn’t work that way.It has to be a source of life for you.It has to be your very breath and the reason you are alive.Until you get to the point where you realize you are nothing and have nothing without Him guiding and loving you, you will always find reasons not to spend consistent time with Him.
This is translated also to our health. If we don’t believe that it matters to make small consistent changes in our eating habits and exercise, then we will come up with all manner of excuses. When we realize it is critical to life, then we make time.We don’t let idle things steal our time.We don’t let things that sounded important get in our way.We don’t take quiz after quiz on Facebook or pan the feed of social media for hours and look back and wonder why we didn’t have time to exercise or prepare a healthy meal.Everyone needs time to relax and go brain-less for a little while I’m just saying, is the time you are spending fueling your fire or is it being wasted on things you won’t remember next week, next month or next year?
It’s tough love time.I started my Fired Up! Group today and I most certainly am!I am sick and tired of Satan stealing our joy and our health by getting our eyes off of Jesus. He doesn’t have to do anything outright that takes us away from eternity, but he can so easily make life on earth hell through our lack of focus on God and our poor choices regarding health. It really matters.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10
Life abundantly starts with our source of everything—Jesus!
