I listened to a sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley on Satan’s Strategy.
I ended up taking notes because it hit home. It wasn’t necessarily new information, but it had so much that I could relate to.
He talked about how Satan’s methods and schemes are not random. They are strategic.
His objective is:
1.Draw us away from God
2.Thwart God’s purpose in us
3.That God won’t be glorified
4.To destroy us
It always starts in our minds. Our minds are his playground….his battleground. He can blind us to the truth and we make excuses that don’t align with God’s Word. He tempts us in our specific area of weakness by watching how we live and then tempts through need or desire.
We end up focusing on what we don’t have and can’t see what we do have. He pinpoints our thinking and is always in the NOW business so that we are only dealing with the moment, not the big picture.
He also chooses the perfect timing of when we are vulnerable. The word HALT signifies the times that we are most weak:
Because we have the Spirit in us, we can learn to recognize and then fight his tactics. We have to see the times that we are particularly vulnerable and stand firm.
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9
I pray that you will be encouraged that all of us face the attacks of Satan so it is not a sign of you being weak but it is a reason that we must always stand firm
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
Guard your heart and guard your mind!
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
